Polish Fair Trade Association is a member of World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) See description

Polish Fair Trade Association (PFTA) was created in 2003 by a group of Fair Trade enthusiasts. The founder of the organization was Wojciech Zieba, the pioneer of Fair Trade movement in Poland.

The association is a non profit organization registered in Gdańsk District Court on 19 March 2003 (Register no.: 0000173179).

From 2010 PFTA is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) Id.: 678.

Statutory Objectives

  • Fight against poverty in the Global South, natural disaster relief, humanitarian aid in arm conflict and war.
  • Assisting in sustainable development of marginalized producers of Global South, especially women, indigenous people, ethnic and national minorities.
  • Promoting and protection of women’s rights and activities supporting equality between men and women.
  • Raising the standard of living of small producers in the Global South by helping to access the market, strengthening the local producers organizations,  supporting economic development (including the development of entrepreneurship) and local community development.
  • Working towards making the rules and practices of international conventional trade more fair for producers and traders from the developing world
  • Promoting trade partnership through dialog, transparency and mutual respect of the respective parties.

First of all, PFTA is an organization which contributes to the fight with hunger and poverty. Secondly, it promotes responsible consumption and Fair Trade. Through its statutory objectives PFTA provides actions on global education, raises society’s awareness of sustainable development, responsible consumption and Fair Trade. What is more, PFTA also promotes development aid for producers from Global South by selling Fair Trade products.

  • Membership fees and donation of individuals.
  • EU grants for project implementation.
  • Surpluses from commercial activities.
  • Voluntary work
